P's Swim Team

This was P's first year on swim team. I love the swim team because it's pretty much swim lessons every day so by the end of the summer they've improved so much. We got some video from her first two meets, but I was helping with her other meets so we didn't get more video. She swam freestyle and backstroke mostly, but swam butterfly in her last meet. I'm really bummed I didn't get a video of it. Maybe I'll just have her swim it and tape it to show.

Her backstroke is pretty fast, especially when she remembers to keep her head back which she was doing by the end. She is so proud of her second place ribbon.

They line the 6 & Unders up at the other end of the pool while the older kids are finishing up from the last event. They didn't tell the little ones to wait so when P and the other girl heard the buzzer they went. The older kids were swimming at the same time. I had to go get P and walk her back to her start to swim again. She was pretty tired. That's what these next two videos show.

I am so proud of her! By the end of the summer she was taking more strokes before breathing on her freestyle, keeping her head back in her backstroke, and swimming butterfly in a way to not get disqualified, (except maybe the two-hand touch at the end.) She is our little fishy.

Project Time!

It seems like whenever I see a project that I want to make I start to make it and then don't ever finish it before I start another project. So usually I have several unfinished projects just waiting to be done. Well, for some reason I was really motivated this week. I got several things done.

First was my new ruffled hand-bag/purse or whatever you want to call it.

Then I made the girls some scripture bags. Actually this is what I set out to do first because they've been begging for some, but I got sidetracked when I saw a ruffled purse that I liked. I used a tutorial where the bag is made from a place mat, so first I made the "place mats" then made the bags.

Then, while I still had the sewing machine out, I used some beach towels Aunt B gave the girls and made the girls some towel dresses with matching bags. They've wanted some since they saw their friends with some. Not like these, but made from a towel. I figured since P has swim practice every day, and they're both outside playing in water all the time, it'd be worth it. In fact, I'll probably make some more. They were so easy.

This is a picture of a necklace I made a couple weeks ago. I wanted to put it on here, anyway. I LOVE it! I saw one online and since I already had everything to make it, I did.

Well, that's it. I guess it doesn't seem like much now that I've posted the pics, but for me it was. I guess I also did alot of mending and fixing clothes so it seems like more. I just got a new sewing machine at a yard sale this weekend and I need to try it out, so you might see some more pics of projects pretty soon.

S's new walker

This worked better than her actual walker.

St. George Tri

Well, I was not very good at taking pics, but my sister was. At least before and after the race, so I am using hers. Nobody was there to take pics during. If you want to see more pics this the link to her site. Brightroom has some pics of us during if you want to see them. Here's mine.

The weather was fantastic. Probably the best weather we've ever had for this race, (usually we have some sort of wind or rain.) Three times we've had the race or part of it cancelled. I think that's why they actually had new entries at check-in. People don't want to go to an expensive race that gets cancelled and don't get money back. It used to get sold out within weeks of opening. Anyway, this time was perfect. Even the night had practically no wind, (we camp.)

I was signed up for the olympic originally, but I had been sick over 6 weeks so I emailed and asked to switch to sprint. I'm glad I did. Even though I didn't have any problems breathing, at least I didn't worry about it. I got the best time I've ever had for this race. (I think.) It helps that they changed the run to the road. We used to have to run partially in sand.

All in all it was awesome and we had tons of fun.

Next races coming up: Bryce Canyon 1/2 marathon, Kokopelli Tri

I think the pics explain it.

Feeling Crafty

I bought a bunch of fabric a couple of years ago to make the girls' Easter dresses and never ended up doing it, so I decided to get it out and try this year, even though the girls were bigger and we have a third. I had to use a different pattern to have enough fabric.

My Easter dress is not done yet, but I did make one of those flower bibs to wear.

Candyland Cake!

Z saw a Candyland cake in a Taste of Home magazine and wanted it for her birthday so my mom bought the candies and I put it together. The kids all loved it because there was so much candy to go around.
